Dear Friends and Family,
Can you tell my New Year's resolutions are already off to a good start? I'm late with my first newsletter of 2008. What does that say about me?
Being late is, without a doubt, my worst habit. I thought that living in a tiny town would help me out too due to proximity, but lo, I am still late. This is such a rude habit, one that I am ashamed to admit because not only does it look bad on me but it reflects onto my husband also. So, as difficult as it has been, I have been taking tiny steps to contribute to my timeliness.
- I've started exercising. I do not work out, in fact, I loathe the process, but my body requires the strength. I got a new stability ball for Christmas and DVD to accompany it. My first workout I got through 12 of 30 minutes in the DVD and felt like someone had squeezed my legs like a tube of toothpaste. It was miserable, it was sweaty, it was exhausting, but it was necessary and the next day, I felt great. I'm currently working out 3 days a week. Be proud.
- I've been trying to be in bed by 11pm. No matter how it pains me to just lay there, I know that I have to wind down and relax. I read and sometimes write. This is a great time of day for me.
- I've been setting my alarm. Even if I have no job responsibilities for the next day, I get up with Wopsle and work around the house, cook, or scrapbook.
And guess what, I feel better about my tacky habit. I'm hoping soon I can learn to be completely on time and with the right persuasion, maybe even a little early in some cases.
Wopsle and I have laughed more this year so far than we did a year ago. We have found these quirky little sayings and quotes that just keep each other in stitches. Last year we laughed about him searching to buy me a "cheese straightener." This year, we have laughed hardest at the classic Leave It To Beaver Christmas. Ask me sometime.
Ministry has been going very well and we are so excited to start this new year with a new ministry branding. I began to make a list of things that I was thankful for last year, and there were many. But to put it simply, I am thankful, but I'm more optimistic about the future. I'm looking forward to seeing God move in my family, my marriage, and my ministry in 2008. Fresh perspective is always good.
Love,
Amy and Wopsle
